Miniature Therapy Ponies

About Us
Green Acres Therapy Horses, founded on February 14th, 2024, brings hope and healing through our mini therapy ponies Magic and Tinkerbell. We offer mobile opportunities and events at our seaside farm location. We provide services in which we work with you to meet your needs. We offer horse enrichment visits, workshops, and parties for all ages, groups, abilities, and stages of life.
Studies have proven that equine-assisted activities (EAA) improve physical and mental health, lower blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, promote conversation, and improve self-esteem and confidence. Spending time with therapy horses increases emotional stability, promotes cognitive and physical regulation, promotes mindfulness, building trust and empathy.
We are Jacqueline and Pamela Green, twin sisters and pony lovers. We started with just two ponies and a dream, and have now grown to a team of four ponies and two handlers. We are proud of our roots and the hard work that got us to where we are today.

Benefits of Equine-Assisted Activities in Seniors
-
Reduced Feelings of Loneliness and Isolation: Engaging with a horse provides a sense of companionship that can reduce feelings of loneliness, a common issue among older adults. The social aspects of equine therapy, including interaction with therapists and other participants, can also foster a sense of community and belonging.
-
Improved Mental Health: Research shows that interacting with horses helps to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. EAA helps to decrease stress levels and promote a sense of well-being.
-
Cognitive Benefits: Learning new skills and engaging in the strategic thinking required to work with horses can help keep the mind engaged and active, potentially slowing the progression of cognitive decline.

Our Miniature Ponies
Magic and Tinkerbell
Our ponies are more than just horses, they are members of our family.
Tinkerbell is a 16-year-old Appaloosa American Miniature Horse; she is a rescue from Tiny Tales Pony Rescue Society located in Delta, BC.
Tinkerbell loves all people and provides huge therapeutic benefits to everyone in her company. Tink loves to be cuddled and brushed.
Magic is a 2.5-year-old silver dapple American Miniature horse; he’s young and also loves socializing with people of all ages. Magic is extremely smart and enjoys attending public events, parties, and therapy visits.
We take great care in selecting and training each miniature therapy horse to ensure they are friendly, gentle, and safe for all ages.
